Guideline and Pointers

Please read through the following guidelines prior to using the bag to enable you to utilize and enjoy the product at its fullest potential.

 

Weight Limit

 

Please refer to the vehicles owner manual or the car dealership to establish the maximum weight limit and capacity of the particular vehicle roof.

The maximum weight limit of the bag should not exceed 70 kg’s at any stage.

Weight should be distributed evenly over the bag surface area. Extremely heavy items with a small footprint must be avoided in the roof bag.

The dimensions of the bag should be considered prior to installing the roof bag. The total length and width of the bag should not overlap either on the front, back or sides of the vehicle.

Packing

 

The roof bag should not be filled or stuffed over its capacity.

Should the zipper not open or close smoothly check for over loading. The zipper should be able to close easily without applying excessive pressure. If additional space is required the expandable zipper can be unzipped for additional storage.

The zipper must never be orientated to face the front of the vehicle to prevent it from opening should it not be locked. Correct orientation will also influence wind resistance and noise.

It’s recommended that the harnessing straps be monitored and checked on regular intervals – this is particularly important on long journeys.

The correct steps should be followed during assembly and disassembly.

Removing Bag

 

When bag is heavily loaded it is recommended that at least 2 people remove the bag from the roof to prevent damage or denting the roof in the instance where a roof rack is not utilized. If only one person is available it is recommended to unpack the roof bag while it is still on roof. Only use a combination of 6 handles located on the sides of the bag to load and unload the bag. These handles are designed and stitched in such a way to carry and distribute the weight.

If the bag is carried or maneuvered by grabbing, taking hold of the walls or sides of the bag the user takes the risk of damaging or tearing the bag. Its strongly advised that only the handles are used when loading or unloading it.

 

Height restrictions

 

The rules of the roads should be observed and attention be given particularly to the height restrictions of an particular road.

 

Remove Roof Bag when not use

 

The Roof Bag and all the accessories used in conjunction with it must be removed after completion of trip and stored in the carry bag to ensure the longevity and lifespan of the bag.

 

Washing and cleaning the car

 

The roof surface area which the roof bag is placed should be clean and free from any dust, dirt or debris to prevent the bag from scratching or damaging the paint surface of the roof of the car.

The roof bag must be removed prior to washing the car since the detergents and high pressure water may damage the bag.

In no instance should the roof bag be left installed when entering a automated car wash.

 

Lockable zipper and other safety features

 

The zipper of the bag can be locked when the bag and car is left unattended. The bag protective features is not theft proof but will act as an additional detergent against vandalism and theft.

The metal D-rings located on the bag can also be used in conjunction with a chain or steel cable to lock the roof bag to the conventional roof rack or to the body of the car when used with the inflatable roof rack or directly on the roof of the car.

It is advised that the locked zipper together with the activated vibration alarm and lockable cable / chain be utilized to maximize protection against theft and vandalism when the car is left unattended

It is recommended that valuable items not be stowed in the bag

 

Weather resistant

 

Please note the bag is treated with special chemicals and coatings to give it increased water and weather résistance properties and capabilities.

 

The bag is not waterproof and in severe weather conditions some water may penetrate the bag. For increased peace of mind it’s recommended that cargo be placed in plastic bags to avoid content to get wet or damp.

 

Cleaning

 

A soft moist sponge with mild detergent should be used in conjunction with warm water to clean the bag. Chlorine, ammonia, alcohol and sprits should be avoided when cleaning the bag to prevent any damage and ensure longevity.

 

Items that should not be placed in the bag

 

Flammable and combustible items that may react with sunlight or heat should not be placed or packed in the roof bag.

Food or perishable items.

Obstacles with sharp or jagged edged should not be placed in the bag since this can damage, scratch or tear the bag which can also decrease the water résistance properties

In the instance where bikes or other obstacles are placed inside the bag it is vitally important that there is no sharp edge pressing against the sides of the bag. Use a towel or other soft surface medium to place between the bag and the cargo.
